Greek word · Strong's G5051

τελειωτής

teleiōtḗs · noun · “perfecter, finisher”

In a sentence

Teleiōtēs means the perfecter, finisher, or completer. It is the title given to Jesus in Hebrews 12:2 — the one who not only starts faith but brings it to its goal.

Teleiōtēs is closely related to teleios (complete) and telos (end, goal). The teleiōtēs is the one who brings something all the way to its finish.

It is used uniquely of Jesus in Hebrews 12:2 — “the founder and perfecter of our faith.” Christian endurance is not finally about our grip; it is about his finishing. He starts faith, sustains it, and brings it home.
