Judas Iscariot
The disciple who betrayed Jesus to the authorities for thirty pieces of silver.
One of the Twelve and keeper of the money bag, Judas agreed to hand Jesus over and identified him with a kiss in Gethsemane. His name has become a byword for betrayal.
Overcome with remorse, he returned the silver and took his own life. His story is a sobering warning about nearness to Jesus without true faith.
